" The route was destroyed by Storm Emma earlier this month, with parts of the road between Slapton and Strete Gate completely washed away and other sections left covered with shingle.
Devon County Council spent all last week clearing shingle from the stretch between Slapton junction and Torcross. Tonnes of shingle have been removed to get it back up and running at the weekend.
Last week, Devon County Council Leader John Hart and Cabinet member for Highway Management Councillor Stuart Hughes visited the A379 at Slapton and pledged that it would re-open. This was followed by the promise of £2.5 million of support from government."
